A process that really works
Contracting logo design is notoriously difficult, and you might be wondering, how do I even know that I’m going to like what my designer creates? Years of trial and error have refined my process to give us the best possible odds (which I put at 95% based off the past 2-3 years of projects). Here are the keys to getting it right: 1) asking the right questions before we start, 2) a taste test session that gets us on the same page aesthetically, 3) lots of sketches, 4) a proposal with three concepts to choose from, and 5) A/B testing revisions.
Proposal with 3 concepts to choose from
Seeing your design for the first time is a big moment, so we go all in with the presentation of work. We’ll meet live to break down the designs and review them in real world situations. And, each concept is much more than just one design — here is where our brand will take on a number of variations like wordmarks, badges, monograms, etc. To get a better idea for what our proposal might look like, check out this archive of past proposals.
Revisions as needed
We won’t limit ourselves to a specific number of revisions. As long as the changes are reasonable, we’ll work until we have a solution. A typical project features 0-3 rounds of revisions.
Logo kit of industry standard files
We’re not holding anything back when it comes to deliverables. Our logo kit will include all design variations in black, white, and color. Our file types are PNG (raster-based), SVG (vector-based), and AI (the original editing file).
Copyright ownership
If you hire me to create something on your behalf, the resulting design is yours, no questions asked. Upon completion of the project, ownership of the copyright is transferred to you. You are welcome to register your copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office, but this is an extra formality — copyright protection is automatic as long as your work is original and fixed in a tangible medium.
Support
After our project is complete, the relationship continues. Issues, questions, special file types — my door is open, and I’m here to help. I’ll keep our work stored in case your files get misplaced, or we need to revisit the project in the future.
Timeline
We’ll set aside two weeks between the project’s start and the actual presentation of work. A typical logo project takes one month in total after some back-and-forth.
Payments
Our project will start with a deposit, and the remaining balance is paid upon completion. I send invoices payable online by credit card or ACH transaction. We might also use payment apps like Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle.

Everything from the logo design project above
We’ll start this project just like any other logo design project: a process that works, a logo proposal featuring 3 concepts to choose from, revisions as needed, a logo kit of industry standard files, and transfer of copyright ownership.
Deep dive into your brand
It’s one thing to have a world-class logo, it’s another thing to have a design ecosystem built to support it. Literally speaking, we’re talking about all the other visual elements that make up your brand: typography, color palettes, imagery, complimentary graphics like patterns & illustrations, tone & voice, and how all of this might be used together in real world applications.
Brand guidelines (16+ page PDF book)
This is a set of rules and instructions that define how our brand should be presented across various media and channels. These guidelines serve as a reference for you, and anyone involved in creating content or materials related to the brand, both internally and externally. It’s a bit of extra effort, but this is how we keep our brand looking consistent and professionally designed for a long time.
collateral materials
In the process of building our brand, we’ll come up with some collateral designs that you can turn around and use as actual marketing products. Before the project, we’ll agree on a couple of pieces that are particularly valuable to you. Some ideas: apparel, packaging, labels, stickers, signage, business cards, letterhead, stationary, flyers, posters, presentation templates, social media templates, reports, and anything else we find useful.
Timeline
Most brand design projects take 6 – 8 weeks with a healthy amount of back-and-forth collaboration between us.
When it comes to something as personal as your brand, there’s no one size fits all solution. If you’re working with a specific budget, unique requirements, or a condensed timeline, let’s chat and figure out if we can create a project that fits you.
Other services I offer include Web design (WordPress), print design, packaging design, stationary design, product design, labels, stickers, flyers, posters, business cards, banners, brochures, menus, apparel, and anything that needs that creative touch.
